Top Winter

Topeka is working on becoming a destination for people, and we here at the Zoo want to be part of that experience and show what the city of Topeka has to offer!

Holidays in Topeka are grand and merry with Winter Wonderland, attending the Merry Market, going on a CASA Homes for the Holiday Tour, stopping by the Festival of Trees, watching the Christmas Light Show, driving through neighborhoods light/site seeing and listen to Potwin’s Carolers, swinging by the Cortez’s house, going to the Nutcracker and of course Zoo Lights among other festivities!

The Zoo Lights team of Elves is made of great supporters not only of their zoo but for the community they live in. The talent and skill set is incredible and their passion is merry beyond belief. They are creating light displays, a Holiday village, Santa’s outpost, a Sweets & Treats themed area and adding lots and lots of lights that will bring a wonderful new family experience to the community. This event is planned to run from November 27th, 2020 for 33 evenings for guests to stroll through the Zoo and enjoy twinkling lights and displays in themed areas throughout. Zoo Lights will create new memories and traditions for people in Northeast Kansas and those that visit our community. With great Elves and partners like Visit Topeka promoting all of the winter events, creating packages that can include local hotel, dining and shopping experiences. That cross over between other festive events around town is endless branding us a TOPWinter destination.

TARC, the group responsible for making Winter Wonderland come to life, have been in the TOPWinter business for 23 years! Funds raised from Winter Wonderland directly benefit TARC programming allowing them to continue to provide excellent service, support and advocacy as they have for the last 65 years. We are partnering with Visit Topeka, creating packages for surrounding areas and benefits for those in town when they visit Zoo Lights, Winter Wonderland or both. Winter Wonderland Holiday Light Display begins the Wednesday before Thanksgiving (November 25, 2019) and ends on New Year’s Eve.

Although the winter season may be cold outside, it is full of love, joy and warmth! We hope to help in creating additional times for families to enjoy time together, making new memories to cherish and creating new traditions showing what the season is all about.
