Wild Encounters

Wow your wild crew with a Wild Encounter of your favorite Topeka Zoo resident. Get up close and personal with the animals and learn what it takes to care for the Zoo’s residents and meet the people who do it!

Please schedule encounters and tours two weeks in advance. Inquiries made less than two weeks in advance are not guaranteed.

Encounters are a fundraising initiative for the zoo’s current master plan project. Our next master plan project Is on the horizon, referred to as “My World”.

Animal encounters are typically scheduled in the afternoon at one of these times, 1:30pm or 2:00pm. Typically most encounters involve the opportunity for you to be closer to the animal and/or see a behind scenes glimpse in the animal care department.  You will have the opportunity to meet the animal care team, ask questions and have a safe interactive experience that varies depending on the animal. (hippo, giraffe, sloth for example are feeding opportunities, while tiger is a behind the scenes look). Garden tours are available both morning and afternoon.

We accept payment in the form of credit card, cash, or check. Checks are made out to FOTZ, with a notation on the memo line-encounter/MP/My World. The encounter fee includes admission of up to 6 guests.
