Just about anything worth celebrating! We host weddings and receptions, corporate meetings and team outings, reunions, retirement parties, anniversaries, holiday parties, celebrations of life, and Safari Birthday parties for the kiddos. Whether you're gathering 10 guests or a whole herd, we'll help you find the right spot.

It depends on your venue. Events at the Kay McFarland Japanese Garden & Venue must wrap up, with teardown complete, by 11:00 PM to follow Gage Park hours and the city's noise ordinance. Events at Camp Cowabunga and evening Full Zoo Rentals end by 8:00 PM, with everyone out by 9:00 PM, since the zoo isn't lit for after-dark adventures. Remember to book enough time for setup and teardown, including your vendors!

Our venues fit gatherings big and small. The Kay McFarland Japanese Garden & Venue seats up to 230 guests. Camp Cowabunga's indoor and outdoor spaces hold up to 300. The Ross Family Pavilion comfortably seats 48 at rounds. Planning something really wild? Full Zoo Rentals include admission for 500 guests, with more tickets available at a discounted rate.

Every rental includes a refundable security deposit, starting at $250 and scaling with your event size and location. It's mailed back 2 to 6 weeks after your event, as long as the space is left clean and undamaged. Reach out to our Event Coordinators for details on reserving your date.

Absolutely! We have an open vendor policy, so you can bring in your favorite DJ, photographer, caterer and more. We even have a recommended vendor list if you need ideas. A few zoo-friendly decor rules help keep our animals and gardens happy:

• Nothing taped, tacked or stapled to walls, floors, windows or doors.
• No glitter, balloons, loose artificial petals or styrofoam.
• Candles must be enclosed.

Of course! Our Event Coordinators are happy to give you a tour so you can picture your big day. Every rental also includes up to 3 pre-event consultations to plan the details. Email privateevents@topekazoo.org to set up a visit.

Yes! At least one zoo team member is on-site throughout your event to help with gate access and answer questions. Our staff also sets up your tables and chairs to match your approved layout, so you can focus on the fun.
