THANK YOU to the visitors and volunteers that made yesterday's Party for the Planet: An Earth Day Celebration so special. The goal for the celebration was to raise awareness on ways to protect the planet and the variety of life inhabiting it - and that goal was certainly accomplished. Over 30 outside organizations & agencies came together to make the event possible, including presenting sponsor, Club Car Wash.

As part of our Party for the Planet celebration (presented by Club Car Wash), the Audubon of Kansas brought a taxidermy American bison to educate guests on the species that once roamed much of North America, including Kansas, and the importance of preserving our prairies.
Sumatran tigers Nisha and Thomas were very intrigued and enriched by the arrival of the bison, an unintended bonus of its presence!
Topeka Zoo & Conservation Center staff are ready for today's Earth Day celebration complete with keeper chats, take home craft stations, and other giveaways! Over 35 outside organizations and agencies will be spread throughout the Zoo, aiding in raising awareness for conservation and sustainability.
10:00 am - Elephant Keeper Chat
1:30 pm - Public Giraffe Feeding ($1 cost, limited to 100 feedings or 30 minutes)
2:00 pm - Build Your Own Bee House with Horticulture (inside Camp Cowabunga)
Event is INCLUDED with general admission, and free to attend for Friends of the Topeka Zoo members.
