Our Preschool Programs are back for another year of learning, exploring and getting up close with the animals!
This year, little learners ages 2–5 can join us for Alphabet Adventures, where each monthly program includes story time, an animal presentation and a hands-on activity.
Join us on Friday mornings from September through March, 9:30–10:30 a.m. Programs are $2 per child, plus Zoo admission.
It’s a fun way for your preschooler to learn about the alphabet while discovering the animals at the Zoo!

Several weeks of clues, plenty of guesses and now the mystery is finally solved!
Meet Antin, the newest member of the Topeka Zoo family!
Antin is an Amur leopard, one of the rarest big cats in the world. Born February 23, 2022, his name means “worthy of praise” in Ukrainian—and we think he’s already living up to it. 💚
So, what is Antin like?

👃 Enjoys exploring new scents
📦 Especially appreciates a good cardboard-shredding session
Amur leopards are a powerful reminder of what conservation can accomplish. Once on the brink of extinction, this remarkable species has new hope thanks to conservation efforts around the world.
It will be a few days before Antin is ready to be seen by guests as he takes time to settle into and become comfortable in his new home. But soon you will have a chance to meet Antin and get to know this incredible cat for yourself!

This Saturday, September 19, we’re celebrating that connection at the Topeka Zoo’s first annual Wildlife & Nature Festival, presented by Club Car Wash.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., explore more than 30 educational booths and hands-on activities from zoo staff and local organizations. Make and take, learn something new, meet conservation partners and discover ways to help protect the wildlife and wild places we all share.
Become a Monarch Marshall, shop our Native Flower Seed Sale, build a cedar birdhouse, enter our raffle, recycle unwanted electronics and explore the Shawnee County Conservation District’s new Soil Tunnel and Poster Contest.
