The Topeka Zoo is accepting clean, live Christmas trees December 26–January 8! Drop trees inside Gage Park near the horseshoe courts—no appointment needed. Trees free of decorations become enrichment for zoo animals and are later mulched for reuse.

Recycle your old or broken holiday lights at the Topeka Zoo! Drop off any string lights between Dec. 1–Jan. 15 in the labeled bin in the main parking lot and help keep the season, and our planet, bright.

Almost 25 years later…. 🦙

Horticulture team member Nathaniel & his dad had a great time meeting up with llama Gertie to recreate this precious memory! Gertie is 29 years old, which is quite an impressive age for a llama. The average lifespan for a llama is between 15 - 20 years. Gertie has been at the Topeka Zoo since 1996 - do YOU have any childhood photos with her?
