The Topeka Zoo is accepting clean, live Christmas trees December 26–January 8! Drop trees inside Gage Park near the horseshoe courts—no appointment needed. Trees free of decorations become enrichment for zoo animals and are later mulched for reuse.

Have you met Roosevelt? ‘Roo’ is the Zoo’s 8-year-old male Cheetah!
Some fast (see what we did there 😎) facts about our spotted friend:
🐆 Cheetahs are solitary in the wild, only forming small coalitions between littermates or while a mom is raising her cubs
🐆 Fast =\= high stamina. While a cheetah can reach speeds of over 70 mph in just 3 seconds, this speed can only last for about half a minute.
🐆 The black lines on their face aren’t just for beauty- these naturally help reflect sun glare from their eyes!
International Cheetah Day is the perfect time to share we’ll have a special guest visiting ZOO LIGHTS next week- Chester Cheetah! You can SPOT the iconic Cheetos mascot from 6 pm - 8 pm inside Camp Cowabunga with his friends from Frito Lay, passing out product.
