World Oceans Day
Presented by Club Car Wash
On Saturday, June 13th, the Topeka Zoo will join zoos and aquariums around the globe to celebrate World Oceans Day.
World Oceans Day reminds us that from the middle of the country, so far from the nearest salt-water shoreline, we still make decisions that impact on the health of the world’s oceans.
While saltwater oceans cover over 70% of earth’s surface, today’s oceans, along with so many species of life found only in the world’s oceans, are threatened as never before.
World Oceans Day at the Topeka Zoo will provide information from a wide variety of booths and activities that raise awareness of the challenges faced by the global ocean and emphasize the many things that we can all do to make a positive impact on these issues.
Guests will encounter booths and activities around the zoo that include a fish fry inside the zoos entrance, make-and-take crafts, make-and-eat treats, and many other hands-on activities around the zoo.
Join us at the Topeka Zoo on Saturday, June 13th, 9:00 – 3:00, for a whale of a good time as we celebrate our world’s oceans and learn what we can do to support them from right here in NE Kansas!
