Congratulations, Elephant Keeper Dalton! 🐘

This year, Dalton has been chosen to participate in the Elephant Managers Association’s Leadership Cohort for 2026 (The Elephant Managers Association). Dalton was one of 12 individuals selected across North America to participate in this program. We’re very proud to have him on our team of staff providing care for African elephant, Tembo.

The program’s goal is to create a leadership support opportunity for active elephant managers who are current and future leaders.

🪳Got Someone Who’s Been Bugging You? Give Them a Gift They’ll Never Forget! 🪳

This Valentine’s Day, skip the predictable flowers and chocolates; instead, name a cockroach at the Topeka Zoo with a $10 donation. It’s the perfect mix of love, laughter, and a little mischief, all while supporting animal care and conservation.

What You Get:
• An official digital cockroach naming certificate—great for screenshots and framing.
• Unlimited bragging rights: “I named a cockroach after you!”
• A Valentine’s gift they won’t forget (for better or worse).
• The warm, fuzzy feeling of supporting animal care and conservation at the Topeka Zoo & Conservation Center.

Because nothing says “you’re unforgettable” quite like a roach named in your honor.

👉 Name your roach here:

Meet Beni! 🐊

Beni, the Cuvier’s Dwarf Caiman, is the Topeka Zoo’s newest resident in the Tropical Rainforest dome. At just about 13 inches in length, she’s the perfect size for finding hiding spots - you may not see her right away when looking into her habitat!

Beni is approximately 1 year old, and came to us from the Dallas Zoo. Keep following us on social media to see how she grows!
