The Topeka Zoo is accepting clean, live Christmas trees December 26–January 8! Drop trees inside Gage Park near the horseshoe courts—no appointment needed. Trees free of decorations become enrichment for zoo animals and are later mulched for reuse.
We're allowing staff to have time with their families (and very thankful for those still coming in to make sure the animals are well taken care of)!

Our very own Glinda (Sergeant Peppers 😂) doesn’t need a bubble to gain his height- we estimate him to be 16 to 18 feet tall all on his own. The ossicones (skin covered bone structures) on top of a giraffe’s head aren’t just for being Fiyero-level handsome or for popularity- males use them as a defense mechanism while head-butting others in competition. Toss, toss. 💅
Visit our ‘Good Witch’ at Giraffe & Friends, the newly-renovated giraffe barn & yard that opened in 2023, located near our South/Group Entrance.
