World Oceans Day

Even though Kansas is more than a thousand miles from the nearest shoreline, our choices still ripple all the way to the sea. Join the Topeka Zoo & Conservation Center on Saturday, June 6 for World Oceans Day — a celebration of the deep connections between Kansas waterways and the world’s oceans.

Through interactive exhibits and educational activities, guests will discover how water travels from local storm drains and rivers to the global ocean, and how small, everyday actions can make a big difference for water quality and marine life. Zoo experts and docents will be on hand to share conservation stories and simple steps for protecting this vital resource — from reducing water waste and plastic use to choosing sustainably sourced seafood.

World Oceans Day reminds us that even far from the coast, we’re all connected by water. Together, we can protect the blue planet that sustains us all.

Stay tuned for event details, featured activities, and educational partners as June 6 approaches — check back soon for updates!
