Taking a moment during #NationalVolunteerWeek to thank our amazing community.

Without our docents and volunteers, many of our operations would be impossible to accomplish. They provide education & discussion topics for guests with a smile on their face and a welcoming attitude. They support our staff by helping with routine maintenance, animal enrichment, and data entry. Not to mention all the work our community & corporate volunteers put in to events such as Zoo Lights, BOO at the Zoo, and our upcoming event, Roar and Pour!

With this year's graduating class of 24 individuals, the Topeka Zoo now has over 120 docents. Docents provided over 11,000 volunteer hours in 2023, bringing the total amount of hours provided to over 60,000 since the program started in 2017.

If you're one of our many docents or have ever volunteered at the Zoo... THANK YOU. 👏

🌧️🍷 Important information regarding Roar and Pour. Rain or Shine, we'll still WINE!! 🍷🌧️

Dear Roar and Pour Ticket Holders,

We have important updates regarding Roar and Pour Wine Fest presented by Kaw Valley Bank and Kendall Construction Inc.! Roar and Pour is not just an ordinary wine festival; it's a vital fundraiser for our organization. The funds raised from this event are crucial for feeding and caring for the animals at our zoo. We understand the importance of safety, which is why we've taken proactive measures to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees.

In light of the upcoming weather forecast, we want to ensure the safety and comfort of all our guests and vendors while still offering an unforgettable wine-tasting experience.

🍇 To accomplish this, we've decided to create multiple wine hubs throughout the zoo, utilizing various enclosed areas. Each location will feature food, wine, and entertainment, giving you the option to move between the following areas:

🏕️ Camp Cowabunga
🏛️ Security Benefit Pavilion
📚 Gary Clarke Education Center: Living Classroom
🌸 Kay McFarland Japanese Garden and Venue

Additionally, we would like to inform you on where you can find our severe weather shelters on zoo property:
1. Liana's Forest Building (LF)
🌿 Guests and staff are directed to the lobby.
🌿 Staff will direct them into the appropriate hallway when necessary, away from glass.
2. Animals and Man Building (AM)
🐾 This is the largest area available for shelter.
🐾 Guests and staff are directed to the building.
🐾 Stay away from windows and head to the back service area.
3. Gary Clarke Living Classroom
📖 This area provides shelter in the restrooms
4. Tropical Rain Forest Building (RF)
🌴 Shelter can be found under the stairs.

Please take note of slippery areas such as the bridges and stones located in the Kay McFarland Japanese Garden and be cautious when moving around.

If you're unable to attend on Saturday, don't worry! You can bring your ticket to the Zoo after the event to pick up your special Roar and Pour Glass.

We're committed to making Roar and Pour Wine Fest a fantastic experience rain or shine. Your support is invaluable to us, and we're incredibly grateful for your support! Grab your umbrella ☔️ it’s going to be loads of pouring fun. We can't wait to see you there!

When this happens, it's usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it or it's been deleted.
