Eggstravaganza

Celebrate spring at the Topeka Zoo during our annual Eggstravaganza — a one-of-a-kind animal Easter egg hunt that’s as fun for guests to watch as it is for our animals to enjoy! On Saturday, April 4, come see your favorite zoo residents search, sniff, and crack open colorful papier-mâché eggs created by our amazing volunteers and docent team.

Unlike traditional egg hunts, this event is all about the animals. Each egg is filled with special treats and enrichment surprises designed to encourage natural behaviors like foraging and problem-solving. Throughout the day, our animal care team will hide eggs across exhibits, from the elephants and orangutans to smaller residents, and share fascinating facts about how enrichment helps keep our animals happy and healthy.

What to Expect:

• Watch animals across the Zoo discover and “hunt” their Easter eggs according to a scheduled lineup.
• Meet and chat with our expert keepers to learn more about each species and their conservation stories.
• Enjoy a day filled with wonder, perfect for families and animal lovers of all ages.

🐻 A BEARY special experience is also in store – get a sneak peek at our black bear cubs by being at the Ranger Station in Hills Black Bear Woods at 1:30. The first 20 visitors at the station at 1:30 will get to go down and see where the cubs have been living, preparing for their introduction to adult bear Val and the big yard come late spring.

Eggstravaganza is included with regular Zoo admission or free for Friends of the Topeka Zoo members. Bring your curiosity, your camera, and a sense of adventure!
