World Water Day

Make a splash for conservation! Join us at the Topeka Zoo & Conservation Center on Saturday, March 21, 2026 as we celebrate World Water Day — a global observance highlighting the vital role water plays in every living ecosystem.

This annual event transforms Camp Cowabunga into a hub of hands-on discovery, featuring interactive stations that explore how clean water connects Kansas to the rest of the planet. Through engaging activities and educational displays, guests of all ages can learn how everyday choices impact our rivers, oceans, and the wildlife that depend on them.

Event Highlights:

Interactive Learning Stations: Discover how water moves through Kansas and beyond — from the Kansas River to the Gulf of Mexico — and how local conservation efforts make a global difference.

Keeper Chats & Presentations: Meet zoo experts and docents who will share fascinating facts about water’s role in animal habitats and climate health.

Hands-On Activities: Participate in fun experiments, games, and demonstrations that reveal the importance of clean water for people and wildlife alike.

Conservation in Action: Learn simple ways you can help protect water quality right here at home — because every drop counts!

This event is included with regular zoo admission (or free for Friends of the Topeka Zoo members). It’s an inspiring day for families, students, and anyone who wants to make waves for a healthier planet.

More details — including activity times and featured partners — will be announced as World Water Day approaches. Check back soon for the full lineup!
